December
27, 1998, Larry Nozero and his quartet premiered music
from his critically acclaimed recording Warm,
live in concert with the Bloomfield/Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This CD was
recorded with full orchestra and captured Larry's unique approach to melodic
interpretation and graceful style. The songs presented here are notable not
only for the beauty of their melodic line, but for their complex and rich, modern
harmonies.
Composers
represented on this recording are Antonio Carlos Jobim, Henry Mancini, Quincy
Jones, Michel LeGrand, Lennon & McCartney--all preeminent contemporary songwriters
who managed to defy convention and win popular appeal with good music. The Larry
Nozero Quartet has been
a regular working unit since 1980. They have recorded several albums and have
been featured at major jazz festivals and venues throughout the United States
and Europe.
Larry
was also guest soloist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Bloomfield-Birmingham
Symphony. This group was a mainstay on the jazz scene
performing jazz classics and original compositions to very loyal audiences
throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area and Midwest.
Selections from
the recording Warm have been scored for
full orchestra and quartet by Grammy nominee David Van De Pitte and Los Angeles
studio arranger/musician Todd Carlon.
